We started Tapnob with a simple thesis: Bitcoin is not just an asset to hold; it is a network to build upon.

While the headlines often focus on the price of Bitcoin, they miss the revolution happening in the infrastructure. At Tapnob, we are not just watching the price charts. We are building the utilities that allow businesses and individuals in Africa (and beyond) to use this technology for real life spending, settling, and saving.

Why We Are Launching This Blog

Building a company on top of rails like the Lightning Network is unique. It comes with some hurdles and incredible product opportunities. We realized that keeping our learnings to ourselves was a missed opportunity.

We want this blog to be a window into our company. As we continue building Tapnob, we are committing to two distinct streams of content here:

1. For the Builders (The Engineering Track) 

• What to expect: Deep dives into our Bitcoin tech stack, post-mortems on bugs, security protocols, and open-source protocols. If you love code, architecture, and hard engineering, this is for you.

2. For the Users (The Product & Lifestyle Track) Technology is useless if it doesn't solve human problems. We want to demystify Bitcoin. It shouldn’t be scary, and it shouldn’t be just for tech bros.

• What to expect: Guides on how to actually spend your Bitcoin (not just HODL it), updates on our features, discussions on financial sovereignty, and stories about how people are using Tapnob to cut costs and speed up settlement.

The "Spending vs. Saving" Paradox

One of the biggest questions we get is: "Why would I spend Bitcoin if it’s going to go up in value?"

It’s a valid question, but it creates a false dichotomy. We believe you can do both. You can use Bitcoin as a savings technology (Store of Value) to protect your wealth, while using the Lightning Network as a payment rail (Medium of Exchange) for its speed and low fees.
